Ik heb de bachelor Klinische Psychologie gedaan (2010-2014, UvA), waarna ik de Research Master heb afgerond met een major in Sociale Psychologie en minor in Methoden en Statistiek (2014-2017). Ik ben sinds 2017 promovendus aan de faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen aan de UU. Mijn onderzoek gaat over inclusie van werknemers binnen organisaties.
Mijn taken bestaan vooral uit onderzoek doen. Hierbij hoort het lezen van literatuur, bedenken van experimenten of vragenlijsten, analyseren van data en dit opschrijven. Het is ook belangrijk om contacten te onderhouden met andere onderzoekers. Dit gebeurt bijvoorbeeld op congressen in het binnen- en buitenland, of kleine bezoekjes bij elkaar op universiteiten. Ook heb ik bachelor- en mastertheses begeleid. Onderwijs is ook een belangrijke taak!
Wat ik de afgelopen jaren vooral heb meegekregen is dat er niet een ‘juiste’ keuze is geweest in opleiding/carrière, en dat die er misschien ook niet zijn. Het is vooral uitproberen. Een voorbeeld: In de eerste jaar van mijn bachelor kwam ik in aanraking met sociale psychologie en organisatiepsychologie. Toen wist ik één ding zeker, ze waren allebei, en zeker organisatiepsychologie, niets voor mij. Voor mijn specialisatie koos ik voor klinische psychologie, uiteindelijk besefte ik in mijn master pas dat dit niet bij mij paste. Het heeft wat extra tijd gekost, maar inmiddels werk ik binnen de sociale- en organisatiepsychologie en heb ik het enorm naar mijn zin.

I first finished my bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology (2010-2014, UvA), after which I graduated from the Research Master’s with a major in social psychology and a minor in method & statistics (2014-2017, UvA). I have been working on my PhD since 2017 at the faculty of Social Sciences at the UU. I conduct research on inclusion of employees in organizations.
My tasks mostly consists of conducting research. This includes reading literature, designing experiments and questionnaires, analyzing data and reporting all of this. It is also important to keep in touch with other researchers. This often happens at conferences in the Netherlands and abroad, or at visits at universities. I also supervised bachelor and master theses. Education is also an important task!
What I learned in the past years is that there has not been a ‘right’ choice in my career, and that they perhaps don’t exist. It’s mostly a matter of trying out. For example, in the first year of my bachelor’s I took classes on social and organizational psychology. I knew for sure that both of them, especially organizational psychology, were not my cup of tea. I chose to specialize in clinical psychology, but realized during my master’s that this did not suit me. It took some extra time, but now I work in the field of social and organizational psychology and love it!
