Oplossingen bieden in tijden van nood is wat mij drijft in mijn werk. Van alles wat ik doe, wil ik dan ook dat het bijdraagt aan een veiligere wereld. Mijn bachelor Interdisciplinaire Sociale Wetenschap legde hier de basis voor. Tijdens mijn master Research in Public Administration and Organizational Science in combinatie met het honours program, kreeg ik de kans om mij verder te verdiepen in veiligheidsvraagstukken. Eerst vooral gericht op de cross-over tussen zorg en veiligheid, en later in mijn carrière steeds meer gericht op crisisbeheersing. Tegenwoordig werk ik als Business Developer Crisisbeheersing en Intelligence bij TNO en houd ik mij bezig met het opbouwen van programma’s waarmee de Nederlandse overheid en uitvoeringspartners met technologische innovaties beter hun werk kunnen uitvoeren. Ik combineer dit met de afronding van mijn proefschrift waarin ik onderzoek doe naar professionaliteitsvraagstukken in crisisbeheersing. Als brandweerman sta ik bovendien zelf regelmatig in de frontlinie, een onmisbare activiteit voor mijn meer academisch werk.

Providing solutions in times of need is what drives me in my work. I want everything I do to contribute to a safer world. My bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences laid the foundation for this. During my master Research in Public Administration and Organizational Science in combination with the honors program, I had the opportunity to further delve into security issues. At first mainly focused on the crossover between care and safety, and later in my career increasingly focused on crisis management. Nowadays I work as a Business Developer Crisis Management and Intelligence at TNO and I am involved in building programs with which the Dutch government and implementation partners can perform their work better with technological innovations. I combine this with the completion of my dissertation in which I research professionalism issues in crisis management. As a firefighter, I am also regularly on the front line, an indispensable activity for my more academic work.
