Als onderzoeker bij Nuffic in het team Strategie, Kennis en Innovatie doe ik toegepast sociaal onderzoek met zowel kwalitatieve als kwantitatieve onderzoeksmethoden. Ik ben medeverantwoordelijk voor datavisualisatie, statistische analyses en het schrijven van rapporten. De inzichten uit onderzoek vertaal ik naar beleidsadvies voor onderwijsinstellingen en het ministerie van OCW. Een recentelijk afgerond onderzoek ging over de ervaringen van internationale studenten en internationaliseringsmedewerkers tijdens de pandemie. Voor een ander project doe ik onderzoek naar digitalisering in het hoger onderwijs in Oost-Afrika. Ik vind het onderzoek bij Nuffic erg leuk, omdat ik erg geïnteresseerd ben in andere culturen en onderwerpen zoals culturele diversiteit, inclusie en onderwijs.
Ik kom oorspronkelijk uit Griekenland, waar ik psychologie heb gestudeerd aan de Panteion Universiteit in Athene. In augustus 2016 ben ik naar Nederland gekomen om de onderzoeksmaster ‘Migratie, Etnische Relaties, en Multiculturalisme’ aan de Universiteit Utrecht te volgen met de UU Excellence beurs. Daar heb ik me toegespitst op onderzoek naar migratie en de multiculturele samenleving. Nadat ik ben afgestudeerd in 2018, heb ik Nederlands geleerd en een jaar gewerkt bij Tilburg University als uitwisselingscoördinator. De onderzoekvaardigheden die ik tijdens de master heb ontwikkeld en de werkervaring vanuit Tilburg University zijn nuttig voor mijn huidige werk. Voor mijn functie is het belangrijk om communicatief sterk te zijn, een analytische blik te hebben en goed te kunnen samenwerken.
As a researcher at Nuffic in the Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation team, I conduct applied social research using both qualitative and quantitative research methods. I am co-responsible for data visualization, statistical analyses and report writing. I translate the insights from research into policy advice for educational institutions and the Ministry of OCW. A recently completed research project was about the experiences of international students and internationalization staff during the pandemic. For another project, I am doing research on digitization in higher education in East Africa. I really enjoy the research at Nuffic because I am very interested in other cultures and topics such as cultural diversity, inclusion and education.
I am originally from Greece, where I studied psychology at Panteion University in Athens. In August 2016, I came to the Netherlands to pursue the research master’s degree ‘Migration, Ethnic Relations, and Multiculturalism’ at Utrecht University with the UU Excellence scholarship. There I focused on research on migration and multiculturalism. After graduating in 2018, I learned Dutch and worked for a year at Tilburg University as an exchange coordinator. The research skills I developed during the master’s and the work experience from Tilburg University are useful for my current job. For my job, it is important to be communicatively strong, have an analytical view and be able to work well together.
