Al vrij aan het begin van mijn master realiseerde ik me dat ik de kennis uit mijn studies over onderwijs en inclusie wilde gaan combineren met mijn passie voor duurzaamheid. In mijn bachelor Onderwijswetenschappen leerde ik de ins en outs van onderwijsontwikkeling. Afgelopen jaar leerde de master Youth, Education & Society mij hoe krachtig het onderwijs is als middel op maatschappelijke vraagstukken te benaderen. Zo’n maatschappelijk vraagstuk dat mij echt aan het hart gaat is de klimaatcrisis. Na mijn afstuderen was één ding voor mij in ieder geval duidelijk: ik zoek een uitdaging waarin onderwijs, inclusie en duurzaamheid samenkomen, zodat ik kan bijdrage aan een duurzame toekomst!
September 2020: Na een zomer om bij te komen van het afstuderen in corona tijden, begon de zoektocht naar die uitdaging in september. Ik wist wat ik hoopte te vinden, maar bestaan dat soort initiatieven al? Is daar werk in te vinden? Zijn er ook betaalde functies naast alle toffe vrijwilligers functies die ik zou willen starten maar waarmee ik mijn huur niet kan betalen?
Fast forward naar oktober 2020: op vrijwillige basis was de eerste uitdaging gevonden! Bij de Jonge Klimaatbeweging mocht in aan de slag met hun onderwijs project, JKB on tour, om MBO studenten te betrekken in de Klimaatbeweging.
En na enkele weken radiostilte kreeg ik die zelfde maand ook reactie op mijn open sollicitatie bij Stichting Technotrend, of ik in ieder geval voor een paar weken kon mee helpen aan een educatieproject rondom duurzaamheid.
Nog keer fast forward naar maart 2021: Op dit moment ben ik voorzitter van de JKB on tour werkgroep bij de Jonge Klimaatbeweging. En die huur betaal ik als projectcoördinator bij Stichting Technotrend. Die uitdaging rondom onderwijs, duurzaamheid en inclusie heb ik dus volop gevonden! Hoe ik vacatures heb gevonden die aansluiten bij mijn persoonlijke uitdaging, en hoe ik het vind om me in mijn werk bezig te houden met die uitdaging, vertel ik je tijdens de CareerNight graag meer over!

Quite at the beginning of my master’s, I realized that I wanted to combine the knowledge from my studies on education and inclusion with my passion for sustainability. In my bachelor Education Sciences I learned the ins and outs of educational development. Last year, the master Youth, Education & Society taught me how powerful education is as a means to approach social issues. One such social issue that is really close to my heart is the climate crisis. After graduating, one thing was at least clear to me: I am looking for a challenge where education, inclusion and sustainability come together, so I can contribute to a sustainable future!
September 2020: After a summer to recover from graduation in corona times, the search for that challenge began in September. I knew what I was hoping to find, but do those kinds of initiatives already exist? Is there work to be found in them? Are there paid positions in addition to all the cool volunteer positions I’d like to start but can’t pay my rent with?
Fast forward to October 2020: on a voluntary basis the first challenge was found! At the Young Climate Movement I got to work on their educational project, JKB on tour, to get MBO students involved in the Climate Movement.
And after a few weeks of radio silence, that same month I received a response to my open application at Technotrend Foundation, whether I could help with an educational project on sustainability for a few weeks.
Another fast forward to March 2021: At the moment I am chair of the JKB on tour working group at the Young Climate Movement. And I pay that rent as project coordinator at Technotrend Foundation. So I have found plenty of that challenge around education, sustainability and inclusion! How I found vacancies that fit my personal challenge, and how I like to occupy myself with this challenge in my work, I would like to tell you more about during the CareerNight!
