UU Career Services – MBTI: which Type are you?

Date: Tuesday, May 8
Time: 14.00 – 17.00
Location: Ruppert 111
Trainer & organisation: Rutger-Jan Scholtens, UU Career Services

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used questionnaire for talent development in the world. The instrument is based on the personality theories of Carl Jung, and describes differences between personalities in a positive way.

During this workshop you are first challenged to estimate your own personality type in an interactive group feedback session. Thereafter you will individually fill out a free online version of the questionnaire to get your reported personality type. In the remaining part of the workshop we will further explore the characteristics of the various typologies. MBTI will learn you more about so-called ‘preferences’. Each preference indicates what gives you energy and what you are comfortable with. This can help you in both your personal and professional life.

I´m Rutger-Jan Scholtens and I currently work as a trainer/coach at Career Services, Utrecht University. I have a background in Business Administration and Cultural Anthropology. Ever since I was a teacher at the university I emphasized the importance of personal reflection and soft skills development for students. I am happy that I can put this in to practice now by assisting students with their career orientation and personal growth. As a trainer/coach it is my endeavor to inspire and activate young professionals. To reach that I engage with students and challenge them to explore their drives, qualities and opportunities. In my workshops I have a pragmatic and interactive approach and I focus on the positive and possible.

MyQuest – Mini QuestTrek

Date: Monday, April 30
Time: 13.15 – 17.15
Location: Amelisweerd – departure from square at Spar Uithof / University Library Uithof
Organization: MyQuest

What are you going to do after university? And what do you have to offer as a future professional? Do you wish to find answers to these questions? Then join ‘mini QuestTrek®’ with the founder of MyQuest, Dr. Marianne van Wetter. Because real change comes from within, we go outside. We enter Amelisweerd. To experience nature. Our nature. And to gain experience there. Because we learn from experiences. On the mini QuestTrek, you systematically investigate who you are and what drives you, whilst walking and doing powerful exercises that stick with you. During the first part of the workshop you will walk through your life. You look back on the moments that have shaped you into who you are. Then you go and search for ‘peak experiences’ to discover your core values from those. Core values are important guides in life. If you can lead your life and meet your core values every day, you will feel happy and fulfilled. Also in your work. Finally, you specify how your core values will help you find a suitable job. Having more clarity before making big choices in your life is such a delight.

MyQuest is a pioneer in the field of experiential learning for (young) adults. Their mission is to give personal development a place in formal education. Their work is based on current theories in positive psychology, evidence-based techniques and Harvard’s latest insights on value driven organizations. The foundation for the programs is Theory U. In 2014, the QuestTrek was chosen as an Inspiring Education Example for 2014 at the symposium ‘Education of the heart’ that was initiated and attended by the Dalai Lama and 700 educational innovators. The Quest Trek of a full seven days is organized by MyQuest in The Netherlands, Europe and Nepal. You can now experience the mini-QuestTrek during What’s Next?!

Trainer & organization: Anouk & Bjorn, SPS-NIP Trainers Office

Nowadays you are expected to be able to market yourself as convincing and desirable as possible. The battle for that one interesting job is fiercer than ever before. You will not easily obtain a job with merely a reasonable CV or a `nice` letter. You have to know exactly who you are, what you have to offer and what you want. The question is: how do you do that? How do you ensure standing out amongst all those other job hunters? How do you actually find out who you are and what you stand for? How do you profile yourself? That is exactly what you will discover in this workshop! This workshop has been specially designed to offer you insights in your Personal Branding.

Many students are curious to learn new things and improving skills. The Trainers Office of SPS-NIP wants to help students in doing so! Our slogan is ‘for students, by students’. As a SPS-NIP member you can use the expert advice from our Vocational Coaches, we have an exclusive Internship Bank, online access to the journal Psychologist, we offer discount on activities of the NIP and you can use the telephone hours of the NIP (Dutch Institute for Psychologists).

This workshop is – like all other What’s Next workshops – open for all Social and Behavioural Sciences students.
